Goals of the Course | | | This course aims to deepen students’ understanding of sustainability challenges and solutions in developing country contexts through place-based experiential learning and multicultural collaborative learning. Through interdisciplinary lectures, fieldwork, and collaborative activities in the Philippines, the course integrates global sustainability frameworks with local knowledge and practices, emphasizing the interconnections among environmental conservation, disaster risk mitigation, sustainable energy, economic development, and community livelihoods. |

授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan | | 本授業は、フィリピンにおける持続可能性と環境マネジメントをテーマに、講義、フィールドワーク、多文化共修を組み合わせた集中型の海外フィールド学修科目である。
フィリピン原子力研究所（PNRI）等の関連機関を訪問し、エネルギーと環境、安全管理について学ぶとともに、バターン原子力発電所を事例として、自然災害が原子力施設の安全性やリスク管理に与える影響について考察する。その後、フィリピン大学ロスバニョス校（UPLB）の教員・学生との合同フィールドワーク、講義、学生ワークショップを通じて、持続可能な森林管理、自然を活用した解決策（Nature-based Solutions）、持続可能なエネルギー、自然災害と地域社会のレジリエンスについて学ぶ。
現地での観察、関係機関・地域関係者との交流、多文化共修を通じて、生態系、地域社会、エネルギーシステム、インフラ、防災・減災の相互関係を多角的に理解し、持続可能な社会の実現に向けた環境学的視点とリーダーシップを養う。
現地スケジュール
Day 1–3：原子力関連研究施設・関係機関等での講義およびフィールド学修
Day 4–5：UPLB教員・学生とのNature-based Solutionsに関する合同フィールドワーク
Day 6–7：UPLB教員・学生との講義、多文化共修および学生ワークショップ
Day 8：総括討議および成果発表 | This course is an intensive field-based program integrating lectures, fieldwork, and multicultural collaborative learning on sustainability and environmental management in the Philippines.
The program begins with visits to the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI) and other relevant institutions, where students will learn about energy, environmental issues, and safety management. Using the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant as a case study, students will examine how natural hazards are considered in nuclear safety and risk management. The program then continues with joint fieldwork, lectures, and student workshops with professors and students from the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).
This field-based Green Leadership course focuses on sustainable forest management, Nature-based Solutions, energy sustainability, natural hazards, and community resilience. Through institutional visits, field observations, and multicultural collaborative learning, students will explore the complex relationships among ecosystems, local communities, energy systems, infrastructure, and disaster resilience. Intercultural learning will encourage students to understand diverse environmental and social contexts and to approach sustainability challenges from interdisciplinary perspectives.
Field Program Schedule
Day 1–3: On-site lectures and field visits to nuclear-related research facilities, relevant institutions, and local stakeholders
Day 4–5: Joint fieldwork with UPLB professors and students on Nature-based Solutions and local sustainability initiatives
Day 6–7: Lectures, multicultural collaborative learning, and student workshops with UPLB professors and students
Day 8: Wrap-up discussion and final presentations

履修条件・関連する科目
Course Prerequisites and Related Courses | | | 専門分野を問わず、関心のある学生を歓迎する。Green Leadership Program 1（Indonesia）または Sustainability and SPU Overseas Program （Germany, Singapore）の履修者を推奨するが、未履修者も参加可能である。海外フィールドワークを伴うため、履修希望者は事前オリエンテーションおよび担当教員との面談に参加すること。参加目的、学習計画、健康状態等を確認のうえ、参加者を決定する。 | Students from all academic backgrounds are welcome. Students who have completed Green Leadership Program 1 (Indonesia) or Sustainability and SPU Overseas Program are encouraged to enroll, but these courses are not prerequisites.
As this course includes overseas fieldwork, prospective participants must attend a pre-enrollment orientation and an interview with the instructors. Participants will be selected based on their motivation, learning plans, health condition, and other relevant factors. |

Notice for Students | | 人数制限あり（10人以下。日本人学生又は日本の永住権保持者には、JASSO海外留学支援奨学金が適用される(成績優秀者2.3以上)。航空券、海外旅行保険、査証等の渡航費用は原則として学生本人の負担とする。
JASSO海外留学支援奨学金等の支援については、対象条件および予算状況により異なる。留学生を含め、希望者は担当教員に相談すること。
