Goals of the Course
The aim of this course is to help you acquire the following abilities that will support you in writing your PhD thesis:
- To be able to formulate highly novel and progressive research questions in your area of interest.
- To be able to design research plans that promise strong theoretical contributions, methodological innovation, and educational implications.
- To be able to write up and present your research in clear academic English.

Objectives of the Course(JPN)
博士論文研究Ⅰaで完成した文献リスト (約30 papers)に基づき、博士論文の理論的背景（貢献したい理論の文脈に位置付けるため）や考察（結果の解釈のため）の基盤となる先行研究のレビュー論文を執筆する（5000 words）。
- Position / Review paper (systematic review, meta-analysisなど）に繋がると良い
- Essayとして、CHRISTOPHER BRUMFIT ESSAY PRIZEなどに出しても良い

Based on the reading list of around 30 papers that you completed in Doctoral Thesis Research Ia, you will write a review article (5,000 words) that provides the theoretical background for your dissertation (to position your work within the context of the theory you wish to contribute to) and reviews the prior research that will form the basis for your discussion (interpretation of results).
- Ideally, this will lead to a position paper / review paper (such as a systematic review or meta-analysis).
- You may also submit it as an essay to venues such as the CHRISTOPHER BRUMFIT ESSAY PRIZE.
授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan
指導教員と文献の優先度を相談しながら、読み進めていく。

また、レビュー論文に加えて、研究計画に基づいた予備調査を実施する。
実験課題の信頼性、捉えたい現象が捉え切れているか（妥当性）などの確認を目的とする。

You will consult with your supervisor about the priority of the readings as you work through them.

In addition to the review article, you will conduct a pilot study based on your research plan.
The purpose is to check, for example, the reliability of the experimental tasks and whether the phenomenon you wish to capture is in fact being captured adequately (validity).
